SCOPE

 

This position requires a background of prior accomplishment in coordination, tracking and expediting of tasks, and interfacing with diverse organizations in support of rapid-paced programs.  The candidate will support tasks being accomplished by Technical Project Managers and the R&D technical staff in furtherance of the success of R&D department programs.  The tasks to be performed by the candidate will include a wide range of activities from supporting procurement of items, supplier liaison, expediting of inter-departmental activities, tracking of action items and activities of R&D staff, interfacing with support functions such as Maintenance, IT, security etc.  The ideal candidate will have experience in prior work as an assistant program manager, office manager, expediter or procurement specialist.   

In the role of the Technical Program Administrator (TPA) the candidate will be expected to facilitate communication between design engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and other functions at Marvin.  The TPA will play a supporting role in gathering inputs and maintaining AS9100 program plan object evidence of compliance for the R&D group.  The focus of the TPA will typically shift from administrative and program tracking early in a program to expediting procurement of parts and services as the program shifts to tracking and assisting engineering in procuring hardware for development and testing.

The candidate must be a flexible self-starter and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment as a member of a cross functional team and as an individual contributor, with a “can do” attitude.  The candidate should exhibit a willingness to take on new types of work, balanced with a disciplined and organized approach to maintaining work already being performed.  A working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite is required.  The candidate must be flexible and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment as a member of cross-functional teams.   The R&D work environment can provide the successful candidate many opportunities for growth and skills broadening well beyond the boundaries of their initial capabilities and assignments.  We are seeking candidates who will maximize this opportunity.

 

SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Prior relevant experience in administration of projects, offices, inter-departmental activities, etc., minimum 10 years’ experience.  Experience with performing SAP transactions and queries is a key capability.
  • Must be able to generate and modify documents in MS Word and Excel
  • High School graduate diploma or a General Educational Development (GED) certificate 
  • Must be well organized and capable of taking task assignments from a high/summary level to generate and follow action plans to accomplish the high-level tasks in close coordination with other team members
  • Must be a proven self-starter, who is effective in environments where guidance is given in a focused manner as tasks start, then works effectively with increased latitude to solve the problem independently.  Must have interpersonal skills which facilitate good workplace communication, both to give information as well as to seek it out when required
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Must be fluent in written and spoken English
  • The candidate will benefit from prior experience in procurement of aerospace/defense mechanical components and assemblies with emphasis in complex electromechanical systems, and with reading and interpretation of MIL-STD documents
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs
