SCOPE
The System Administrator II plays a key role in maintaining and supporting an organization's hybrid infrastructure across on-premises Windows systems and Microsoft cloud services. This position requires extensive hands-on experience in user lifecycle management, patching, endpoint configuration, and technical troubleshooting. The System Administrator II supports compliance implementation, maintains system documentation, and provides Tier 2/3 escalation support across IT infrastructure and endpoint systems. This role bridges the gap between front-line support teams and senior management, contributing directly to operational stability, security, and project execution within a CMMC-based enterprise environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform hands on installation, and maintenance of MS Windows Servers, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 in a highly available, multi datacenter, digitally secure corporate enterprise IT environment.
- Use PowerShell, Group Policy, Intune, and Azure policies to automate system configuration, updates, installation, and remediation.
- Unified endpoint management including imaging, patching, remote support, inventory, provisioning, and policy management.
- Support on-prem VMware ESXi clusters for stability, performance, and DR readiness.
- Proficiency in supporting OKTA,MFA, and YubiKey.
- Serve as tier-2 escalation for enterprise system outages, identity synchronization failures, and security alert resolution.
- Provides technical support to end users and associated teams for hardware and software issues.
- Highly professional, quality-focused, customer service-oriented, with an excellent demeanor for in-person support across all skill levels.
- Write and maintain Work Instructions.
- Collaboration on Projects and Maintenance
- Complies with security controls in accordance with NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC compliance.
SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience in enterprise Microsoft Windows system administration.
- Experience in Ivanti Endpoint Manager: OS imaging, patching, remote support, software deployment, and inventory.
- Hands-on experience with Azure AD, Intune, Exchange Online, and SharePoint Online.
- Solid understanding of Windows Server, IIS, Exchange, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, Certificate Authority, and Group Policy.
- Experience in deploying and migrating users to Microsoft Office 365 cloud-based services, including Hybrid Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.
- Supporting OKTA, Microsoft SQL Server, and Intune.
- Implement and adhere to security controls in accordance with CMMC and NIST SP 800-171 guidelines.
- Deploying and maintaining virtualized infrastructures using VMware.
- Experience in PowerShell for system administration.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Highly professional, quality-focused, customer service-oriented, with an excellent demeanor for in-person support across all skill levels.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruptions and context shifting.
- Demonstrable ability to work effectively on independent, self-directed projects.
- Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background investigation.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or 7+ years of systems administration experience with relevant professional and technical certifications.
- Must have a Highschool Diploma or G.E.D equivalent
- Must be able to read/write/speak English
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Sitting at a desk for long periods of time using computers, printers, phones, and other office equipment.
- Being on call to ensure that the network and computer systems are always functioning properly.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Remote work may be required.
