SCOPE:

 

Ensures consistent quality of production by supporting activities within quality management system (QMS) and program related quality engineering activities. Support the team on daily activities related to quality, delivery, compliance to QMS. Quickly and effectively act when potential non-conformances are found by proactive communication. Participate in development and implementation of new and existing QMS processes. Assist MLS cross functional team members as required. Participate in problem solving, continuous improvement and product and process analysis activities with the ability to recognize and recommend new and emerging methods.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Review customer requirements to ensure meeting the required specifications
  • Participate and lead closed-loop root cause and corrective action activities
  • Disposition non-conforming material
  • Identify and initiate continuous improvement opportunities
  • Assemble and review end-item data packages prior to customer submittal and shipments
  • Perform contract reviews, purchase order reviews, planning reviews and supplier data reviews, to ensure quality requirements are captured and flowed down
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders over quality related issues
  • Contribute in a team environment, be flexible, and volunteer support to meet team goals
  • Collaborate with program management, engineering, purchasing, production control, operations and inspection as applicable
  • Maintain Quality metrics for tracking daily activities within the department
  • Participate in Change Control Board (CCB) reviews
  • Maintain and be an advocate for the integrity and quality of our products to MLS customers
  • Support all QMS activities including internal, external and customer audits
  • Support inspectors and inspection activities as required
  • Analytical and data driven skills and ability to manage and maintain relevant KPIs
  • Interact with suppliers to address the corrective actions or quality concerns as required
  • Assemble and review end-item data packages/first articles prior to customer submittal and shipments
  • Support inspectors and inspection activities as required.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • High School graduate diploma. Engineering or STEM degree is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Quality Engineer in the aerospace and defense industry
  • Project Management skills a plus to serve as back up to manager, as needed
  • Must have general understanding of GD&T and able to interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to interpret and understand customer and industry specifications, i.e., ISO, ASME, MIL STD, MS, etc.
  • Excellent communications skills – both verbal and technical writing
  • Provide project leadership for process improvement initiatives
  • Understanding of configuration management principles and practices
  • Experience with Quality Engineering tools, i.e. Cause Map, Fish Bone analysis, PFMEA, Six Sigma, SPC, etc.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Prior background that includes machining, assembly and inspection desirable
  • Attention to details and be a self-starter

  • MS Office proficient
  • ASQ Lean/Six Sigma black belt certification is a plus
  • Experience in working with SAP MRP environment is a plus 
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs
