SCOPE:   

The Production Planning Manager will lead a team consisting of Production Planning, Planning Leads, master scheduler and the production planning Supervisor.  The position will interface will all levels of Management. The Production Planning Manager will be responsible for ensuring the monthly build plan is tracking to completion and product flows to completion(stock), in addition the manager has the responsibility of ensuring the department is monitoring production progress and developing revised scheduling responsive to changes in the flow of materials, designs, equipment, or other resources by utilizing ERP systems, planning and scheduling software, or other database tools to develop and maintain master schedules.  

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Compiles and records production data from, customer orders, work orders, and department KPIs
  • Utilizes Planner(s) to commit to weekly/monthly/yearly build plan projections.
  • Manages delinquencies through additions to the build plan and ensures the team is pushing the appropriate product.
  • Performance management which includes priorities, performance expectations, and development planning that optimize an individual's performance and aligns with organizational strategic goals
  • Plan, Prepare, and oversee department budget including income, and expenses. 
  • Coordinates with program managers to communicate any delays or expedites on product and work to align sales orders as required.
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Update Procedures as necessary. 
  • Collaborate with supporting teams/departments to assess resource availability, and delivery commitments to planning department schedule.
  • Demonstrate an earnest commitment to the company’s objectives for Perfect Delivery, Perfect Quality, 5S, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and any other improvement initiatives
  • Define & maintain department goals & objectives 

 

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS: 

 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year college, plus 3 years’ experience or 8 years’ experience in lieu of degree or an equivalent of education and experience 
  • 5 or more years’ experience in production planning within a manufacturing environment with at least 3 of those years in a management role.  
  • Advanced computer skills working with MS Office programs (Excel, PP, Project, etc.) 
  • APICS certification preferred 
  • 5 or more years of Experience utilizing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools such as SAP and Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) 
  • Lean/Six Sigma training preferred 
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills 
  • Knowledge of production and inventory management 
  • Change management & project management skills 
  • Forward planning and strategic thinking 
  • Must be able to speak/read/write English 
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs
