POSITION SUMMARY: 

 

Payroll Analyst III are the payroll staff that has intermediate knowledge and understanding of the overall payroll obligation to the company and the employees. A Payroll Analyst III has 5 to 7 years of experience working in payroll with a focus in at least 2-3 payroll disciplines. Payroll Analyst III are self-starters and work solo researching payroll related issues with the proper agencies and channels to ensure compliant processing and practice in the payroll office. Payroll Analyst III will occasionally lead in areas of processing and practice. Payroll Analyst III are developing their knowledge and growing or mastering their experience in several of the existing more complex payroll disciplines. Payroll Analyst III are confident representing the team’s operational practice and process in detail on behalf of the entire payroll team. There is a solid understanding from A-Z on what is expected of the payroll office and any given moment, from the day-to-day activity or throughout the calendar year.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Assess the direct and indirect needs and restrictions of payroll operations and payroll compliance related customer care inquiries from employees, management, and outside entities as it relates to overall functionality of the Payroll Office. Knowledgeable on the impact of other supporting departments on payroll operations and vice versa.    
  • Regularly applies knowledge and experience acquired from at least 2-3 payroll disciplines as their primary contribution to the department with an increasing and deliberate expansion into the other lesser experienced disciplines.        
  • Write-up and update step-by-step procedures for existing processes and newly implemented initiatives or mandates that impact payroll, 401k processing, training, or the overall payroll processing to ensure timely, accurate, and optimal efficiencies. Can provide recommendations to several practices associated with each discipline as it applies to the team’s business operation’s unique structure, culture, and limitations.            
  • The monitoring of payroll data continuity, and compliance impacting financial data, such as bill rates, cost centers, and G/L accounts across all company systems (ADP, SAP, PSW Fidelity) and applications for all MEC entities. focused on payroll departmental regular and routine Metrics, Labor Distribution, Reconciliations between all payroll and financial ERP systems, Internal Departmental Calendars and Checklist, Periodic, Quarterly, and Annual internal analysis, scoreboard presentations (helpdesk tickets, payroll processing, timetables, etc.), and other relate tasked as required per management discretion. Management reporting and analysis for Finance.
  • Assist in the mentoring and developing of junior payroll staff by working almost exclusively with them to share knowledge and expertise in areas that coach them to next level performers on the team (team builders and talent observers). Payroll Analyst III control the escalation of concerns, issues, and basic payroll decision-making from the higher-level payroll staff and management, as much as possible. Capable of executing a thoughtful and satisfactory solution to deescalate issues, when needed.               

 

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Finance or Accounting degree preferred)
  • Valid certification, such as FPC, CPP, or CPA is a strong plus
  • Strong and recent experience in SAP ERP or a similar ERP system, is a must
  • Some familiarity with ADP Workforce Now and ADP Workforce Manager
  • Experience writing reports and importing files
  • Advanced analytical knowledge of MS Excel (Lookups, Formula Nesting and Pivot Tables, etc.) is a must.
  • Excellent computational ability
  • Keen attention to detail, organized, able to collaborate or work independently
  • Strong logical application and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable communicating with upper management and in public forums
