Position Summary:

 

Marvin Group is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to translate technical requirements into manufacturable SolidWorks models, 2D drawings, bills of material, and production-ready documentation for equipment enclosures, structures, and assemblies.

 

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

  • Create and maintain SolidWorks 3D models and production-quality 2D fabrication and assembly drawings
  • Prepare bills of material, design specifications, drawing packages, and revision-controlled engineering records
  • Translate functional, interface, packaging, access, environmental, and transportation requirements into practical mechanical designs
  • Coordinate mechanical interfaces with electrical, controls, thermal-management, and installed-equipment stakeholders
  • Work with suppliers, purchasing, manufacturing, and quality to resolve material, fabrication, fit-up, assembly, and inspection issues
  • Support prototypes and production builds, troubleshoot floor issues, and process engineering changes

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline 
  • 4+ years of experience developing mechanical designs from requirements through released fabrication and assembly documentation
  • Required proficiency using SolidWorks to create and revise 3D parts, assemblies, and production-quality 2D drawings
  • Ability to create and maintain bills of material, specifications, drawing packages, and configuration-controlled engineering records
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, tolerances, fits, fasteners, and design-for-manufacture practices, with clear cross-functional communication

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Power-equipment control-room experience, including transportable control rooms, E-houses, modular control buildings, or comparable equipment enclosures
  • Deployable or equipment-shelter design experience, including packaging, access, lifting and tie-downs, transportation, or field-installation considerations
  • Related structural or mechanical systems experience, such as welded frames, sheet-metal enclosures, equipment mounting, environmental sealing, thermal management, HVAC integration, structural calculations, or finite-element analysis
