SCOPE

This position requires a background in Mil-DoD and aerospace manufacturing with a major emphasis on mechanical and electro-mechanical components and assemblies.  The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing / machining of large metallic components, electromechanical components and some casting, machining and metal finishing experience is desired.

This position entails breaking down Mil-DoD and customer engineering requirements per drawing to create manufacturing planning, bills of material (BOM), design tooling/fixtures, liaison with manufacturing personnel to improve processes, troubleshoot assembly, machining and test problems, and reduce the time and cost to manufacture products with the implementation of time saving measures while ensuring the quality, integrity and certification properties of products manufactured is maintained or improved.  Must be flexible and be able to work in a fast-paced environment in groups or individually. Ideal candidate should also preferably possess commensurate design experience of mechanical components and assemblies to handle the requirements of this role when needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Production to ensure products are built to specifications and engineering documents.
  • Provide feedback to improve product design for ease of manufacturing, optimization of cost, and time to manufacture product.
  • Prepare engineering changes as required to support manufacturing and quality of parts produced.
  • Identify and if necessary, design and deploy tooling to aid in production processes.
  • Ensure standardization and compliance to engineering, customer and company specification for processes employed in production.
  • Work directly with the company/customer representative to determine needs in product repairs, complaints analysis and user interface. Provide assembler/operator training and contribute to the development of support materials as required.
  • Reviews and approves assigned controlled documents (e.g., work instructions, quality specifications, engineering specifications, procedures, and validations protocols). Ensures that product documentation is in accordance with Quality System requirements.
  • Support MRB activities
  • Support development and changes of all manufacturing documentation including Bill of Materials, drawings, technical specifications, route sheets, work instructions, test procedures, and all other as applicable.
  • Interact with cross functional team including manufacturing, engineering, materials, quality and vendors as required.
  • Provide design engineering support to mechanical engineers or product design activities as necessary including components & sub-assemblies design, drafting and tolerancing, product cost analysis, etc. as required.

 

SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Manufacturing or Aerospace Engineering
  • 5 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience.
  • CAD experience preferably in Creo/ProE.
  • Fluent English Read / Write
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and use of machinery including casting, machining, sheet metal fabrication and metal finishing
  • Knowledge in design of jigs and tooling used for assembly of the final product.
  • Experience writing work instructions, manuals and training instructions.
  • Must have knowledge of fixtures, materials, and metals processing, including Heat Tread and Coatings for aerospace requirements.
  • Must be able to perform basic measurement and inspection processes.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in creation of Manufacturing Planning for product realization.
  • Must have experience with MIL-STD documents, reading and interpretation of GD&T and ASME Y14.5.
  • Must be able to write engineering reports that include analysis and results.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Hands on knowledge or experience with HVAC and diesel engine systems is a plus.
  • ERP System experience specially SAP is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products is essential. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
