POSITION SUMMARY: 

 

Oversee and lead the quality control team, ensuring the implementation and maintenance of rigorous quality standards. Develop and optimize quality processes, conduct audits, and coordinate with various departments to uphold product excellence. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to overall organizational quality objectives.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Oversee Quality Control supervisors, leads, and inspectors to ensure work is performed as expected to the QC Manager Roles and Responsibilities Checklist.

  • New employee onboarding: Ensure all incoming personnel are placed in an onboarding plan. (30/60/90-day reviews).

  • Time Approvals: Review and approve all direct report clock in/out times.

  • Conduct One on One meetings with all direct subordinates.

  • Identify needed disciplinary actions based on employee adherence to company policies and roles and responsibilities.

  • Team Building: Promote team cohesiveness by engaging in team building activities.           

  • Respond immediately to any Stop the Process (STP) requests on the production or inspection floor.

  • Facilitate compliance walks (Gemba walks) at a pre-determined frequency to evaluate QC systems compliance. 

  • Review policies and procedures for compliance to MEC and customer requirements.          

  • Maintain and present Key Performance Indicators when requested.       

  • Provide upward and downward communication through Alignment meetings and team huddles respectively. 

  • Staffing Review: Evaluate staffing needs and provide recommendations to the Director of Quality Control

  • Training Review: Ensure all subordinates have been trained to applicable Business Management System (BMS) SIPOCs.

 

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Four-year degree or a minimum of 10 years of experience in a Quality Management role

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Aerospace and Defense Industry

  • Certification in GD&T required and/or 5 years of advanced GD&T experience

  • Certifications in relevant American Society for Quality (ASQ) topics or a college degree Engineering or other technical fields are a plus

  • Certificates of Completion in Quality Assurance for the professional a plus (i.e., CSUDH Quality courses)

  • Excellent communications skills – both written and verbal

  • Able to perform basic math skills

  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated

  • Able to work with others and be a team player

  • Must have a good attitude and willingness to learn

  • Able to perform basic computer tasks and have proficient typing skills

  • Familiarity with SAP a plus

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software

  • Ability to lift a minimum 35lbs.
