POSITION SUMMARY: 

 

During this internship participants will become part of the Research & Development (R&D) Engineering Department, working alongside experienced R&D Engineers, Technical Program Managers, Systems Engineers, Project Engineers in various tasks and duties related to new product development programs. Our goal is to provide the fundamental tools needed to be successful in your career field, and to potentially prepare you for an opportunity to join Marvin Engineering Company (MEC) full-time. Fields of focus will be diverse across the program and include functional and technical opportunities.

Candidate will gain exposure to tasks and duties associated with new product development, including but not limited to the engineering design cycle, from concept development to integration, manufacturing, test, and technical data package maturity. The candidate will interface with multiple functional disciplines within MEC in pursuit of programmatic goals. Applicant should possess excellent communication skills and robust curiosity and drive to facilitate interfacing with these multiple functional groups, including manufacturing, quality, procurement, planning, and others.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Project engineering tasks/duties associated with new product development programs for bomb racks and launchers

 

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

 

  1. Strong technical drive and intellectual curiosity to assist experienced Technical Program Managers, Systems Engineers, and Project Engineers with technical tasks required for execution of new product development programs for armament equipment: namely launchers and bomb racks.
  2. Strong working knowledge of MS Office products: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
  3. Ability to read and/or learn how to interpret technical specifications, documents, drawings, etc.
  4. Working knowledge and/or exposure to CAD is desirable.
  5. Experience or desire to be a team player to build consensus among peers and build effective relationships with colleagues and customers.
  6. Ability to effectively manage technical tasks, identify and escalate issues, and work with stakeholders to develop solution paths.
  7. Ability to inspire confidence and influence others to complete challenging technical tasks through robust problem definition and collaboration.
  8. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Current enrollment in College in pursuit of an Engineering Degree. Preferred field of study: Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Project Engineering, Systems Engineering, Technical Project Management.
  2. Minimum of 1+ years of completed College education in pursuit of Engineering Degree.
  3. Ability to understand, characterize, dissect, and solve technical problems.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  2. Prior engineering internship experience.
  3. Technical writing proficiency or desire to learn.
  4. Experience delivering presentations with technical content.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues on cross-functional teams in pursuit of programmatic goals.

SALARY RANGE:

 

Base Salary Range (Inglewood only): $20.00 to $25.00 Hourly
