Position Summary:

 

MSS is seeking a Director of Integrated Electrical Systems to establish and lead electrical engineering, controls engineering, power-systems engineering, electrical manufacturing, electrical integration, and electrical floor execution.

The role owns the complete electrical realization of integrated shelter systems, from design and manufacturing engineering through acceptance testing, factory commissioning, production integration, and lifecycle support. The director is accountable for disciplined electrical production, technical documentation, traceability, and integration with the mechanical platform.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

  • Establish and lead electrical engineering, controls engineering, power-systems engineering, electrical manufacturing, and electrical integration.
  • Own medium- and low-voltage power distribution, switchgear integration, industrial control systems, PLC and HMI automation, instrumentation, cable and wire-harness design, and electrical equipment integration.
  • Lead acceptance testing, factory commissioning, production release support, and lifecycle support for integrated electrical systems.
  • Own electrical manufacturing engineering, cable, rack, integration, and hook-up assembly, including electrical floor management.
  • Establish engineering standards, manufacturing processes, inspection procedures, quality systems, and technical documentation for mission-critical electrical production.
  • Lead the organization's path to UL 508A Industrial Control Panel Shop certification.
  • Implement IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship and inspection standards for cable assemblies and wire-harness manufacturing.
  • Build defense work around MIL-STD-810 environmental qualification, MIL-STD-461 electromagnetic compatibility, and customer-specific qualification, testing, and acceptance requirements.
  • Apply NFPA 70 and NFPA 70E as foundational electrical and workplace-safety practices, with applicable IEC 62271-202 and IEEE C37 requirements for utility-grade work.
  • Integrate power distribution, automation, controls, communications, instrumentation, and mission equipment into reliable, maintainable, and manufacturable systems.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Systems, or a closely related field is required.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated managerial experience leading electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, and systems-integration work from initial design through production and commissioning.
  • Demonstrated experience creating functional strategies, specific objectives, and developing budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. 
  • Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
  • Extensive industrial electrical experience spanning power distribution, industrial automation, controls engineering, electrical construction, equipment integration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and electrical manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated experience
  • Experience with medium- and low-voltage power distribution, switchgear, PLC and HMI systems, instrumentation, cable or wire-harness design, and acceptance testing.
  • Ability to establish technical standards, manufacturing processes, inspection procedures, quality controls, traceability, and production documentation.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, MIL-STD-810, and MIL-STD-461 as applicable to the work.
  • Ability to lead floor execution for cable, rack, integration, hook-up assembly, testing, and factory commissioning.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience leading or supporting UL 508A Industrial Control Panel Shop certification and IPC/WHMA-A-620 implementation.
  • Experience with IEC 62271-202, applicable IEEE C37 switchgear standards, utility-grade prefabricated E-Houses, or related electrical infrastructure.
  • Eligibility and readiness to pursue a California C-10 Electrical Contractor license if the final role location and assigned duties require it.
