POSITION SUMMARY:
The Buyer IV, Subcontractor is a very experienced buyer and is responsible for managing the most complex subcontractors. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring subcontractor performance, strategizing, negotiating, and interfacing with cross functional teams to support manufacturing. The Buyer IV will provide the best value solution that supports our supply chain goals including cost, quality, and on-time delivery. The most desirable candidates will have experience in machining, fabrication and finishing, along with a good understanding of DFAR and FAR requirements for purchasing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review “Purchase Requests”, identify suppliers, negotiate best value directly with suppliers, and place POs in accordance with Company Policy and government / customer requirements.
- Coordinate on work processes/approvals with senior management and internal customers
- Display commitment to the on-time delivery of quality products
- Develop/support comprehensive sourcing strategies
- Ensure appropriate record keeping of purchase activities.
- Training subordinates in best practices
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong sense of personal and professional integrity
- 7 plus years of hands-on experience with the procurement of machined and fabricated components, OR an AA/AS degree and 4 years of hands-on experience as a Buyer or similar role where negotiation was required, OR a BA/BS and 2 years of hands-on experience as a Buyer or similar role where negotiation was required.
- Capable of understanding and interpreting mechanical drawings
- Display a commitment to the on-time delivery of quality products
- Demonstrates robust negotiations skills with confidence.
- Have longstanding relationships within the manufacturing community
- Action oriented with a record of achieving business goals
- Strategic thinker that utilizes creative and innovative problem-solving approaches to achieve key company procurement goals
- Be self-starting, highly organized, outgoing with excellent people skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced manufacturing environment with on-time delivery as a priority
- Proficient with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Robust with SAP or strong evidence that demonstrates the ability to quickly learn SAP and proprietary software.
- Strong mathematical skills and concise English communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and with confidence to leadership within the company
- Experience in Aerospace, Defense, or other heavily regulated industry
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs

- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
- Exposed to a combination of normal office type environments
SALARY RANGE:
Base Salary Range (Inglewood only): $78,000 to $93,600
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Typically, none, but may include minimal local domestic travel of <5%
