POSITION SUMMARY:

 

 

The Buyer IV, (R&D) will be responsible for managing complex product manufacturing suppliers that support the War Fighter. This candidate will be responsible for monitoring  supplier performance, strategizing, negotiations, and also interface with cross functions within Marvin to support manufacturing. This position is required to provide the best value solution that supports our supply chain goals including cost, quality, and on-time delivery.  The right candidate should have experience in machining, fabrication and finishing, along with a good working knowledge of military level quality requirements and specifications.

 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

  • Purchases materials, supplies and services at the most favorable terms for the organization
  • Qualifies vendors, evaluates bids, and negotiates prices and terms for purchased goods and services
  • Tracks purchases, monitors vendor quality, and maintains a current database of vendor information
  • May be responsible for checking and guiding the work of lower-level buyers
  • A specialist on complex technical and business matters
  • Work is highly independent
  • May assume a team lead role for the work group
  • Develop and support comprehensive sourcing strategies in a team environment
  • Coordinate work processes/approvals with senior management and internal customers
  • Display commitment to the on-time delivery of quality products

 

 

 

SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS:

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Logistics, or related field is required
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with the procurement of machined and fabricated components
  • Must have experience with purchasing in either Aerospace or Defense
  • Capable of understanding and interpreting mechanical drawings
  • DFAR/FAR experience
  • Experience managing suppliers to KPIs
  • Display a commitment to the on time delivery of quality products
  • Communicate concisely with all levels inside and outside the company
  • Have strong negotiations skills
  • Have longstanding relationships within the manufacturing community
  • Action oriented with a record of achieving business goals
  • Strategic thinker that utilizes creative and innovative problem solving approaches to achieve key company procurement goals
  • Have high personal and professional integrity
  • Be self-starting, highly organized, outgoing with excellent people skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced manufacturing environment with on-time delivery as a priority
  • Good working knowledge of computer software such as Word and Excel
  • ERP systems experience is required. 
  • Strong mathematical and English communication skills
  • Must have fluent communication skills
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Must be able to read/write/speak in English



 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 

  • Experience managing suppliers qualified in Determinant Manufacturing is highly desired, but not absolutely required
  • SAP experience is a plus

 

 

 

SALARY RANGE:

 

 

Base Salary Range: $95,000 - $125,000. Based on skills, education, and experience. 

 

 

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

 

 

This position will require 10% travel.
