POSITION SUMMARY:  


The role is an entry level Buyer within the purchasing department. Successful candidates will have a basic understanding of the procurement process within a manufacturing environment, possess strong communication skills, work carefully to ensure accuracy, and be predisposed to seek value. The Buyer I may purchase indirect goods and services, or direct non-complex materials for production.  

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • Competitively quote multiple vendors to ensure best quality, price, and delivery of products
  • Generate electronic memos for shippers
  • Escalate within suppliers and within your business unit as conditions require
  • Utilize interdepartmental relationships to expedite requests
  • Display commitment to the on-time delivery of quality products
  • Review “Purchase Requests”, identify appropriate indirect or basic-complex direct suppliers, negotiate best value directly with suppliers, and place Purchase Orders in accordance with Company Policy and government / customer requirements. 
  • Ensure appropriate record keeping of purchase activities.
  • Ensure timely delivery of purchased goods or services, and accurate reporting of status to management.
  • Establish relationships with suppliers
  • Act with integrity

 

 

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:  

 

 

  • High School diploma or GED  
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a procurement or similar role, within a similar cross-functional, manufacturing environment 
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to establish productive relationships cross-functionally, internally, and externally
  • Desire to engage in negotiation combined with the business sense to identify and utilize the most favorable information during that negotiation
  • Potential for rapid growth of this skill
  • Evidence of sound business decision making ability
  • Ability to speak/read/write English
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs

 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

 

 

  • Experience in Aerospace, Defense, or other heavily regulated industry is preferred
  • Experience with Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) parts, Electrical, Hardware, Basic Complex components
  • An understanding of the general processes used to produce sophisticated metal parts, including machining

SALARY RANGE: 

 

 

Salary range (Inglewood only): $70,304.00 - $85,000.00. Pay rate is based on skills, education, and experience.
